International Dawn Chorus Day (IDCD) celebrates the sounds of spring across the world.
With IDCD events as wide spread as California, Denmark, Spain and the UK, REVEIL will be broadcasting live for the first time over 24 hours over the official IDCD weekend 3rd & 4th May 2014 on their website.
Tracking sounds from open microphone to open microphone, REVEIL is a different kind of online radio. Each sound they record is not pre-recorded but in real time from somewhere. ‘Our aim has been to open a space for listening to something else- especially but not exclusively to non- humans and from wild places- and in the course of one earth day to provide a sketch of this emerging field.’
IDCD participants are invited to contribute by providing live audio streams of their morning bird chorus from their perspective locations. Radio stations could get involved too, like Wave Farm and WGXC 90.7-FM in New York.
REVEIL will also be hosting a range of activities on a camping weekend of the 3rd & 4th May at Stave Hill Ecological Park in London. Stave Hill is the oldest urban nature reserve founded in 1976 by the Trust for Urban Ecology.
You can find more information of the event and how to get involved with what looks set to be a unique and tuneful broadcast by clicking the link to REVEIL’s sound camp below.
